Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, David P. Rapaport, MD Named
As One Of NY's Top Plastic Surgeons
A
Featured Speaker on FOX News's special - Under the Knife
On August 11, 2001, FOX News aired a one-hour special
program, Under the Knife. Dr. Rapaport was a featured
plastic surgeon on the show. He spoke about his experience
treating patients referred to him with complications from
cosmetic surgery performed by less experienced doctors.
He also reviewed guidelines for selecting a competent
cosmetic surgeon including certification by the American
Board of Plastic Surgeons, membership in the American
Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), and experience
in the specific procedure being requested. He emphasized the
importance in choosing one's plastic surgeon carefully as it
is always better to "get it right the first time".
Interview
with Bryant Gumble on CBS Early Show
Dr. Rapaport appeared nationally on the CBS Early Show where
he was invited to discuss the phenomena of teenagers seeking
cosmetic surgery in increasing numbers. During the interview
he explained that although the absolute number of teenagers
seeking cosmetic surgery has increased, their proportion in
relation to the overall population having cosmetic surgery
has actually decreased. While Dr. Rapaport does not advocate
cosmetic surgery for teenagers as a "quick fix", and feels
it needs to be looked at as a serious procedure, he does
feel that there are appropriate candidates for cosmetic
surgery in this age group, particularly in the late teens.
Dr.
Rapaport has also been featured on Extra, which
produced a story on his use of Ultrasonic Liposuction for
male breast reduction, and in a recent issue of
Glamour Magazine where he discussed the aesthetics
of breast surgery and nipple sensitivity. His work has also
been seen on NY1, The Health Network, and in
The New York Times.
Fox
News Interview
On January 7, 2000 Dr. Rapaport was interviewed by Fox news
to comment on a recent publication questioning the safety of
liposuction. Dr. Rapaport explained that liposuction is
surgery and does come with certain risks. These risks can be
reduced substantially by selecting a surgeon experienced
with liposuction, and being sure that appropriate safety
guidelines are followed. The importance of having a Board
Certified Plastic Surgeon and anesthesiologist was also
discussed. This story was aired nationwide.
