This fall, as the weather turns cooler and the trees change color, an increasing number of women are seeking changes of their own—through the cosmetic surgery of breast augmentation. Here at our offices, in fact, we’ve been seeing a dramatic uptick in the number of women looking for fuller, more symmetrical breasts through this procedure. What we’re seeing is that most patients tend to fall into one of two categories: 20- and 30-somethings without children, who have wanted the procedure since they were teenagers and are now pursuing it; and older moms whose children are now grown, who want to do something about their empty or saggy breasts. In a third category, we also see patients seeing revision implants, who are looking to correct problems from previous surgeries or procedures. Dr. Rapaport is a world recognized expert in breast implant revision for women who have had previous breast augmentation surgery.
No matter what prompts a patient to seek breast augmentation, the good news for all of these women is that, because we offer such a wide variety of implants, we have options for many different needs. Textured implants, for example, are becoming more popular because of how they reduce the risk of hardness. Gummy bear implants, on the other hand, aren’t usually as attractive as softer-feeling options and aren’t an ideal first choice; they tend to make the upper sections of breasts appear unnaturally prominent. Because we understand the different benefits and features of each type of implant, we can help patients select the best types for their needs. Many women come to our office for the underarm approach, where Dr. Rapaport performs the procedure with an endoscope that’s less than an inch long right in the armpit crease. Whatever option a woman selects, what’s important is that each procedure is catered to her individual needs, so each patient can receive exactly the look and feel she desires. Dr. Rapaport has over 25 years of experience with breast augmentation.
